Anchorage Area & Turnagain Arm:

SHIP CREEK:  Open to king salmon fishing below dam in tidewater; no fish reported caught yet, expect fish to be present in about ten days. Stream above dam is closed to fishing year-round.

CAMPBELL CREEK:  Closed to all fishing through June 14; rainbow trout spawning season.

CHESTER CREEK:  Closed to all fishing through June 14; rainbow trout spawning season.

EAGLE RIVER:  King salmon season opens May 29. Water high and turbid. A few Dolly Varden present.

BIRD CREEK:  Closed to all fishing through July 13.

INDIAN CREEK:  No reports of fish; expect a few Dolly Varden in a couple of weeks. Water high from snow runoff.

GLACIER CREEK:  No reports of fish; expect a few Dolly Varden in a couple of weeks. Water affected by snow runoff.

TURNAGAIN ARM:  Some hooligan are now present and being caught; try outgoing and low tides. Run should peak in about ten days.

20-MILE RIVER:  Spotty to slow dipping for hooligan but catches will improve very shortly.

PORTAGE CREEK:  Open to fishing but no reports of success. Flowing low and ice free; expect a few Dolly Varden to show any day.

INGRAM CREEK:  Open to fishing but no reports of success. Flowing ice free but water is high from snow runoff. Expect a few Dolly Varden in a couple of weeks.

Matanuska-Susitna Valleys & Knik Arm:

EKLUTNA TAILRACE:  Open to king salmon fishing; no reports of fish, too early in season. Expect first king in mid-May down by Knik confluence. Water low and relatively clear.

JIM CREEK:  Open to fishing for all species (except king salmon); no reports of fish yet. Expect a few Dolly Varden soon.

COTTONWOOD CREEK:  Closed to all fishing through June 14; rainbow trout spawning season.

FISH CREEK:  Closed to all fishing through June 14; rainbow trout spawning season.

LITTLE SUSITNA RIVER:  Catch-and-release only for king salmon by emergency order. Open to fishing but no reports of success; too early for kings still. High and murky water present.

WILLOW CREEK:  Catch-and-release only for king salmon by emergency order. Water low and clear; a few rainbows and grayling being caught at mouth. Some ice and snow in area.

LITTLE WILLOW CREEK:  Catch-and-release only for king salmon by emergency order. Water low, visibility fair; a few rainbows and grayling being caught at mouth. Some ice and snow in area.

KASHWITNA RIVER: Catch-and-release only for king salmon by emergency order. Water levels moderate, visibility fair; a few rainbows, Dollies, and grayling being caught at mouth. Some ice and snow in area.

SHEEP CREEK:  Catch-and-release only for king salmon by emergency order. Water levels moderate, visibility fair; a few rainbows, Dollies, and grayling being caught at mouth. Some ice and snow in area.

MONTANA CREEK:  Catch-and-release only for king salmon by emergency order. Water low and clear; a few rainbows, Dollies, and grayling being caught at mouth. Some ice and snow in area.

TALKEETNA RIVER:  Catch-and-release only for king salmon by emergency order. Breakup in progress; rainbow trout, Dolly Varden, and grayling available shortly.

BYERS CREEK:  Breakup in progress. Expect shelf ice and snow around stream. A few rainbow trout available later in May.

EAST FORK CHULITNA RIVER:  Breakup in progress. Expect shelf ice and snow around stream. A few rainbow trout and grayling available later in May.

Copper Valley & Valdez Arm:

PORT VALDEZ:  Limited success for shore anglers; some bottomfish available from city dock. A few Dolly Varden starting to show at mouths of salmon spawning streams.

ROBE RIVER:  Water is low and clear; a few Dolly Varden are migrating out of Robe Lake now and present in river and at mouth.

TONSINA RIVER:  Breakup in progress. Expect shelf ice and some snow around stream.

KLUTINA RIVER:  Breakup in progress. Expect shelf ice and some snow around stream.

GULKANA RIVER:  Breakup in progress. Water is high and turbid. Expect shelf ice and some snow around stream.

Kenai Peninsula:

PASSAGE CANAL:  A few bottomfish are present; no reports of salmon yet. Still fair amount of snow in area. A few Dolly Varden will show at mouths of salmon spawning streams soon.

SIXMILE CREEK:  Water is relatively low and clear; some ice and snow in area. A few Dolly Varden present.

RESURRECTION CREEK (HOPE):  Water is relatively high and turbid from snow runoff; expect Dolly Varden to be available starting in two weeks.

RESURRECTION BAY:  Bottomfish are being caught; fair to good action on bait. Spotty for Dolly Varden but slowly improving. Herring are moving into head of bay, a few feeder kings and halibut should be present near shore.

RESURRECTION RIVER (SEWARD):  Moderate flow and turbidity; a few Dolly Varden are present. Expect first few red salmon at river mouth by mid-May.

UPPER KENAI RIVER:  Closed to all fishing through June 10; rainbow trout spawning season.

RUSSIAN RIVER:  Closed to all fishing through June 10; rainbow trout spawning season.

LOWER KENAI RIVER:  Flowing low and somewhat turbid downstream of Killey River confluence; shelf ice in places. A few rainbow trout and Dolly Varden being taken. Hooligan are showing at river mouth.

SWANSON RIVER:  Closed to all fishing through June 10; rainbow trout spawning season.

KASILOF RIVER:  Flowing low with shelf ice present some places. Steelhead trout are being caught in small numbers. No king salmon reported or observed yet.

NINILCHIK RIVER:  Closed to all fishing; king salmon season opens May 29. Water is high and murky.

DEEP CREEK:  Closed to all fishing; king salmon season opens May 29. Water is high and turbid.

COOK INLET:  A few halibut being caught from shore at Whiskey Gulch, mouth of Kasilof River, and Nikiski Beach; peak high tides produce fish. Some Dolly Varden present.

ANCHOR RIVER:  Closed to all fishing; king salmon season opens May 22. Water is high and turbid.

DUDIAK LAGOON:  Open to fishing for all species; no reports yet of king salmon caught or observed. Look for a few kings to start showing in about a week.

KACHEMAK BAY:  Some flounders and codfish present; Dolly Varden showing up, should be good action next week.

RESURRECTION BAY:  Bottomfish are being caught; fair to good action on bait. Herring are moving into bay, a few feeder kings should be present.

RESURRECTION RIVER (SEWARD):  Flowing ice free near town; a few Dolly Varden will be present. Expect first few red salmon by mid-May.

UPPER KENAI RIVER:  Flowing ice free; no shelf ice or snow in area. A few rainbow trout and Dolly Varden being caught. Season ends April 30.

RUSSIAN RIVER:  Water is low and cold; some ice and snow around stream. A few rainbow trout present in lower stream. Season ends April 30.

LOWER KENAI RIVER:  Flowing low but somewhat turbid downstream of Killey River confluence; shelf ice present. A few rainbow trout being taken. Hooligan just starting at mouth.

SWANSON RIVER:  Flowing ice free. Some rainbow trout available in middle and upper reaches; season ends April 30.

KASILOF RIVER:  Flowing very low; shelf ice present some places. Steelhead trout are being caught in small numbers.

NINILCHIK RIVER:  Minor flooding due to rapid snowmelt; fishing season begins May 29.

DEEP CREEK:  Significant flooding due to rapid snowmelt; fishing season begins May 29.

COOK INLET:  A few halibut being caught from shore; peak high tides produce fish. Some Dolly Varden present.

ANCHOR RIVER:  Major flooding in area due to rapid snowmelt; fishing season begins May 22.

DUDIAK LAGOON:  Open to fishing for all species; no reports yet of king salmon showing. Expect a few kings to be present by second week of May.

KACHEMAK BAY:  A few flounders and codfish present; Dolly Varden starting to show up, will get better later on in May.
